Dallas Ski Club - Founded in 1955

Sixty-four now! The Dallas Ski Club (DSC) is a very active ski club with a rich history. The DSC was founded in 1955 by brothers Dick and Harry Bass, Jr., who were stockholders in the Aspen Ski Corporation. Dick Bass was instrumental in developing the ski resorts at Vail, CO and Snowbird, UT.

The DSC is a proud member of the Texas Ski Council (TSC), an organization comprised entirely of Texas ski clubs.

TSC organizes six trips per year with an average participation of 300 - 600 Texas skiers per trip. DSC participates in a minimum of two TSC ski trips per year. In addition to the TSC trips, the DSC organizes four to six ski trips annually and one to two summer non-ski trips. We have a very competitive Nastar race program and conduct the club races in February during our traditional trip to Aspen, CO.

The membership of our club consists of career couples, singles, families and empty-nesters. A nominal membership fee is charged and membership is open to everyone. Officers and directors are elected from the general membership and serve a one-year term. All officers and directors serve on a volunteer basis.

Although skiing is a primary objective of the club, we have many social activities throughout the year. The general membership Happy Hour is held the first Tuesday of each month. We have two 'black tie optional' events per year - one during the holiday season and one in the spring to celebrate the 'Changing of the Guard', the formal introduction of the new Board of Directors. There are many other social activities so join our group to learn more.

Did you know that the Dallas Ski Club is a member of the Texas Ski Council which is a member of the National Ski Council Federation? Skiing is a big deal! As a member of the Dallas Ski Club you benefit from the knowledge and expertise of ski club members around the state, many of which have benefited from the knowledge and expertise of ski club members around the country.

TSC is a non-profit, all volunteer organization consisting of 14 ski clubs throughout the state of Texas. The purpose of the TSC is to promote individual and group interests in skiing and snowboarding. TSC is able to secure economical group travel discounts for its members with ski & travel destinations throughout the United States, Canada, Europe, Asia and the Southern Hemisphere. It is responsible for Bid Fest every year, which all the ski clubs attend, and for soliciting bids from various resorts and travel companies for trip packages. It is from this selection that the Ski Clubs choose their trip destinations every year. For more information about TSC, visit www.texas-ski.org.

The mission of the National Ski Council Federation is to strengthen Councils, with industry participation, so they may better serve clubs through communications, education and benefits, and to influence issues relevant to snow sports and ski clubs. For more information visit www.skifederation.org.

When you participate in a TSC trip, you will be joining not only the DSC members, but members of other ski clubs from around the state. You are welcome to join a TSC trip even if the DSC is not participating. This provides you with even more travel and ski opportunities!
