Big White 2010
|
December 2010 - Big White, British Columbia On December 11, thirteen of the DSC’s finest and bravest members ventured forth to British Columbia in Canada to a destination that the club had never before tried –BIG WHITE MOUNTAIN! It lived up to its name as the place is BIG. It truly is a place that I recommend we book again in the next couple of years for the club to return to. |

So, myself and J.J. Lowe, Marylou Alford, Tammy Chambless, Charlene Cottingham, Cindi Cotten, Guy Huntley, Hobert and Maureen Murphree and Jan Gast departed Dallas for our flight to Seattle and was joined there by three of our members who now live in the Seattle area, Vivien Benjamin and two of our club’s past presidents Ron and Cathy Donckers, for the short flight from Seattle to Kalowna, B.C. We then had a pleasant bus ride to the mountain. Our accommodations were in the middle of the mountain village where we had close walking access to the restaurants and lifts. Now, as to the restaurants, our past president, Ron, scoped out all the restaurants and gave us a report on them for us to decide which ones to pick for dinners. However, he failed to ask if they would be open for dinners! Several were not but we found a couple open and all had a good time.
We had very lively discussions, lots of skiing, a good quantity of alcoholic refreshments and plenty of food during our stay and introduced the group to a game called “greedy guts.” Marylou climbed a very high ice tower where we were there, and Jan Gast somehow gave herself a black eye taking a really good looking fall on one of the ski slopes – you will have to ask her how she did this.
It was a very good trip, and everyone had a great time!
